Heart disease and stroke remain two of the leading health threats to all Americans. Many participants form heart walk teams with family, friends and co-workers to support or honor loved ones affected by heart disease, stroke and congenital heart defects.

The Brooklyn Heart and Stroke Walk is designed to engage Brooklyn’s businesses, corporations and community in a fun-filled day that promotes heart health through physical activity, friendly competition, volunteerism and fundraising.

With no participation fee, the Brooklyn Heart Walk encourages all New Yorkers to join in on the festivities. In addition, walkers are eligible for a Heart Walk t-shirt once they have raised a minimum of $100.

The American Heart Association uses the funds raised through its Heart Walks to finance cutting-edge scientific research, conduct public and professional education programs and advocate for public health.

The 2018 Brooklyn Heart Walk is sponsored by HealthFirst, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets Foundation, and the American Heart Association NYC’s “Life Is Why” sponsor, Mount Sinai Heart; the Community Newspaper Group is this year’s media sponsor.
