American Heart Association Announces Stanley Black & Decker Executive as 2021 Greater Hartford Heart Walk Chair

Hartford Heart Walk is Back in Person at Bushnell Park, October 23rd!

The American Heart Association (AHA), the largest voluntary health organization fighting heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases, announces Russ Mills, VP Transformation & Integration Office, Stanley Black & Decker, as chair of the 2021 Greater Hartford Heart Walk.

 As chair, Russ Mills is leading the organizational and recruitment efforts in Greater Hartford. He is calling on survivors, walkers, and business leaders to join in to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke, the leading cause of death in the United States. The Greater Hartford Heart Walk campaign is slated to raise $275,000 for the American Heart Association.

“Funds raised during the Heart Walk will advance education that is helping our communities be healthier and support critical research including efforts to help us better understand the heart and brain implications of COVID-19”, said Russ Mills, Hartford Heart Walk chair. “The work of the American Heart Association is more important than ever.”

The Greater Hartford Heart Walk is back in person at Bushnell Park on Saturday, October 23, following all local guidelines, and will kick off with a rolling start time where participants can start at any time between 10am and 11am. Heart Walk participants are encouraged to follow the American Heart Association’s Connecticut Facebook page to find pre-event challenges and information to make the Heart Walk experience more fun.

The Greater Hartford Heart Walk is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise life-saving funds and encourage physical activity. Heart Walks across the nation are anticipated to be the largest ever as families and co-workers leverage the opportunity to re-connect and get outdoors in safe conditions.  Over one million Americans people are expected to take part in a Heart Walk between September and November.

On the day of the Walk, participants are encouraged to post pictures and videos using #HartfordHeartWalk.
