Heart Walk is Back in Person at Sherwood Island State Park
The American Heart Association (AHA), the largest voluntary health organization fighting heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases, announces Anthony Scavo, Director at PwC, as chair of the 2022 Fairfield County Heart Walk and 5k Run.
As chair, Anthony Scavo will lead the organizational and recruitment efforts in Fairfield County. He will call on survivors, walkers, and business leaders to join in to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke, the leading cause of death in the United States. The Fairfield event campaign is slated to raise $200,000 for the American Heart Association.
The 2022 Fairfield County Heart Walk and 5k Run will be back in person after virtual participation in 2020 and 2021. By being in person, the event can reconnect Connecticut communities and take steps that keep hearts healthy while adhering to the public guidelines around safe social gatherings.
“Funds raised during the Heart Walk will advance education that is directly helping our Connecticut communities be healthier while supporting critical research,” said Anthony Scavo, Heart Walk chair. “The science of how we respond to heart disease and stroke has progressed tremendously. With a new generation lacing up their shoes to participate in the Heart Walk, I am excited to see the big solutions to come.”
The Fairfield County Heart Walk and 5K Run is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds and encourage physical activity. Heart Walks across the nation are anticipated to be the largest ever as families and co-workers leverage the opportunity to re-connect and get outdoors in safe conditions.
