Golf lovers from across the greater DC region polished off their best clubs and joined the American Heart Association (AHA) Greater Washington Region for its 37th annual Golf Tournament, raising over $167,000 to advance cardiovascular research, education and programming.
Thirty foursomes comprised of organizations and individuals from a variety of industries joined us at the Woodmont Country Club on Monday, May 23 to kick their week off with fun, fellowship, and some spirited competition on the golf course.
The morning started with a breakfast, chipping contest, and opening remarks from Golf Tournament Chairs Brigette Perry of THEYA Healthcare and Rich Sawchak of Hypori before teams departed to the north and south courses for 18 holes of golf. Throughout the course, golfers participated in a variety of exciting challenges including our hole-in-one and closest-to-the-pin contests.
Following a day of golf, participants gathered for a post-game reception and dinner during which Golf Committee member Regina Rink honored the life and legacy of her husband Terence who passed away unexpectedly in 2019 while recovering from a sudden cardiac arrest. An avid golfer, this year’s closest-to-the-pin contest memorialized the memory of Terence. Read their story on our blog.
The program concluded with recognizing our tournament champions for their support and skills on the golf course.
