Since 2004, the Go Red for Women movement has educated millions of women about their greatest health threat: heart disease. Each year, cardiovascular disease causes 1 in 3 deaths among women, but too many remain unaware of their risks. On Thursday, November 17, the American Heart Association is shining a light on the health journey of women, raising lifesaving funds, and increasing awareness of cardiovascular risk factors at the first DC Go Red for Women Reception and Panel Discussion.
Join us at The National Press Club for an evening of networking and celebration featuring a silent auction, guest speakers, and an esteemed panel discussion. We will be joined by Jessica Melton, President of Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine, National Capital Region; Ruth Williams-Brinkley, Regional President, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Region; Dr. Sandra Nichols, SVP, CMO Health Inclusion and Community Engagement, UnitedHealth Group; Dr. Kelly C. Epps, interventional cardiologist with INOVA Heart and Vascular Institute and Emmy award-winning journalist and WUSA9 weeknight anchor Lesli Foster for an evening of discussions around elevating women’s health and well-being.
“Go Red for Women is all about empowering the women in our lives to reclaim what matters most, their health,” Soula Antoniou, Executive Director of the American Heart Association, Greater Washington Region said. “Together with our dedicated supporters, we’re serving as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally.”
Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health. The DC Go Red Reception is made possible by the support of sponsors: Johns Hopkins Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, Sheehy Auto Stores, Washington Informer, and WUSA9.
