The American Heart Association Delaware hosted its annual Appreciation Executive Breakfast on February 24th to recognize, acknowledge, and celebrate — our top supporters of the Heart Walk – our sponsors, top walkers, top team captains, donors, and valued volunteers.
The 2022 Wilmington Heart Walk was a great success, raising $328,000 in revenue. Along with our Southern Delaware Heart Walk in Rehoboth Beach, the Delaware Heart Walk events together raised a total of over $576,000 — a record-breaking year statewide!
The Appreciation Breakfast featured an incredible announcement by Mr. Thom Harvey – see separate article – with a gift of over $1 million from Thom and his wife Robin – to advance our lifesaving mission.
Little Vea and her parents inspired us all with her deeply compelling personal story (see separate piece).
The top five fundraising companies were awarded plaques to recognize their amazing efforts! ChristianaCare ranked number one in Wilmington with $41,000 plus in fundraising revenue, led by Judi Smith and Jen Oldham. Encompass Health was second with over $22,000, led by Mathew Gooch. DuPont, Nemours, and Delmarva Power rounded out the top five companies!
The Lawyers Cup – awarded to the top fundraising law firm for the Heart Walk – was presented to Potter Anderson – led by Mary Ellen Manley and accepted by John Manley.
The planning committee for the Swing Fore Heart Golf Outing — hosted by Encompass Health and led by Area CEO Mathew Gooch — was recognized and celebrated at the event!
Awards were also presented to the top individual fundraisers (who raised over $3,000 each). Tom Green Ranked number one overall – raising over $12,000 for the Heart Walk! Anita Franzoni and Lindsay Ferrante were second and third, with over $11,000 in fundraising individually. Amazing!
Our other exceptional top fundraisers: Mary Ellen Manley, Jeff Miles, Dr. Kirk Garratt, Mark DegliObizzi, Randy Stone, Phil DeDominicis, Joseph Carroll, James Martini, and Brenda O’Donald.
The top volunteer award was presented to Pete and Amy Lefton, who led the logistics for the day of the event and have been phenomenal supporters for over 15 years!
A special thank you to the Altemus Family for an exceptional donation of $23,000 in loving memory of Eric Altemus.
