WESTCHESTER, July 26, 2024 — Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in Westchester and Fairfield counties, and Nancy Dowling, General Secretary at Danone North America, the leading, purpose-driven food and beverage company, is working hand-in-hand with the American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, to change that. Dowling will serve as chair for the 2024 Westchester County Heart Walk. The Westchester Heart Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla, N.Y.

“I’m honored to be the chair of the 2024 Westchester Heart Walk,” said Dowling. “We look forward to welcoming the community to celebrate survivors and remember those we’ve lost to heart disease and stroke. The Heart Walk is all about promoting the health and well-being of our community and supporting our lifesaving mission and we are proud to work with the American Heart Association as this work is a natural extension of our mission at Danone to bring health to as many people as possible.”

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers: heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family. This year’s Westchester Heart Walk is sponsored by: Danone North America, WMCHealth, Fujifilm, Phelps Hospital, White Plains Hospital, Jackson Lewis P.C and Burke Rehabilitation.

As chair of the Westchester Heart Walk, Dowling will lead a team of Westchester County executives to recruit companies and organizations to take part in the event. The Heart Walk will help fund lifesaving science that can create an artificial heart valve, prevent a stroke, put scientific advances into doctors’ hands, and someday, find a cure.

“We are incredibly grateful to Nancy Dowling for stepping up to move the needle when it comes to heart disease and stroke,” said Amanda Palumbo, executive director of the American Heart Association in Westchester and Fairfield counties. “When you join the Heart Walk, you join more than a million people in 300-plus cities across America in taking a stand against heart disease and helping save lives.”

Heart disease and stroke are largely preventable, and how you eat, move, and manage stress impacts your well-being, physically and mentally. The Heart Walk provides information on how to live healthier with proven, science-based tips on how to eat smart, add color, move more and be well.
