American Heart Association and Bayhealth implement four-week Healthy for Life® Workshop Series to provide hands-on education in blood pressure, blood sugar, mindful eating, and healthy lifestyle choices

DOVER, DE, November 2, 2024 — This fall, the American Heart Association, with sponsorship from Bayhealth, hosted its first-ever Healthy for Life® Workshop series in Dover, Delaware, equipping local residents with essential skills for better nutrition and wellness. The four-week series took place every Monday from 4-6 p.m. at Bayhealth’s Dover campus, culminating in a celebration where participants received certificates of completion and Healthy for Life kits filled with tools and resources for nutritious cooking.

The Healthy for Life program, developed in collaboration with Aramark, is an evidence-based initiative designed to empower communities with knowledge about food, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices. Throughout the program, participants explored essential topics including “The Role of Food and Your Health: Blood Sugar and Cholesterol,” “The Role of Food and Your Health: Blood Pressure,” “Feed Your Potential,” and “Mind Over Matter: Developing Mindful Eating Habits.” Bayhealth’s sponsorship allowed approximately 19 participants to gain valuable skills and confidence in making healthier choices for themselves and their families.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our first cohort of Healthy for Life participants here in Dover and are incredibly grateful to Bayhealth for sponsoring this impactful program,” said Yinka Isichei, Community Impact Manager for the American Heart Association in Delaware. “Through Bayhealth’s support, we’ve been able to provide our community with the resources and knowledge they need to build healthier lives for themselves and their families.”

The Healthy for Life program, co-developed by the American Heart Association and Aramark, is implemented nationwide in collaboration with community organizations. The American Heart Association is pleased to announce that two more cohorts of the Healthy for Life Workshop will be offered this spring.
