Greater New Haven Heart Walk announces honorary chair

The American Heart Association, the largest voluntary health organization fighting cardiovascular diseases, announces Garrett Sheehan, president & CEO Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce as honorary chairman of the Greater New Haven Heart Walk. The annual Heart Walk will now take place in the fall on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Hubbard Park, Meriden, Conn. with a focus on CPR.

“I’m thrilled to take on this honorary role and help champion health and wellness in our communities,” said Sheehan. “By coming together to raise awareness and vital funds, we can truly make a difference. This year, we are spotlighting Hands-Only CPR—a simple skill with the power to save lives. I encourage everyone to join us and be part of building a Nation of Lifesavers.”

Now in its 35th year, the Greater New Haven Heart Walk continues to unite the community—supporters, volunteers and sponsors—around a shared mission to honor survivors and fund lifesaving research and education. This year’s event will feature Hands-Only CPR training, empowering participants with the skills to save lives while enjoying a meaningful walk with family and friends.

Hands-Only CPR skills will be the focus at the 2025 Fall Heart Walk

Each year, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the U.S. The American Heart Association is working to increase the number of bystanders who can respond with CPR, helping build a healthier, more prepared community.

The walk will offer both 1- and 3-mile routes, along with music, tribute signs, sponsor activationsand CPR demos—all celebrating heart health and community strength.
