Resolutions can be hard to stick to, especially when we set ourselves up for goals that are too hard to reach. This year, set attainable goals and see how far you can truly go. Wellness doesn’t necessarily mean going to the extremes and running miles or going vegan. Do what’s right for you, sometimes simple steps go the furthest. Here are five simple and easy New Year’s resolutions to try this year:
- Drink more water
Rethink your drink and cut out sugary drinks from your diet. Water will help you stay hydrated and healthy. - Add color to meals
Include fruits and vegetables at every meal and every snack. - Be active
What does this mean for you? It could mean going for a walk once a day or hitting the gym 3 times a week, whatever works for you! - Reduce sodium
Most of the sodium in our diets comes from packaged and processed foods. Make sure to read the labels and see how much salt is hiding in your groceries. - Stress less
Easier said than done, but stress can be bad for your health. Check out some tips here on how to manage your stress.
Whether you work on all five resolutions this year or just stick to one, any change can be a great step towards living a healthier lifestyle and protecting your heart.

Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
