GRANTS INTENDED FOR ORGS IMPROVING ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD IN NYC
New York, NY, April 22, 2019 — The American Heart Association is pleased to announce the opening of the 2019-2020 New York City Community Impact Grant application process. This grant will provide funding for non-profit organizations with programs and projects that have a focus on expanding healthy food access for children living in under-served communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City. A total of $50,000 has been allocated for grant distribution for this upcoming fiscal year.
Since 2008, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has recognized the need to fund and support community-based activities in NYC that address our mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Many local community groups and organizations are working, or would like to work, on projects that would result in improvement in the overall cardiovascular
health of our communities. This funding helps ensure that these projects can be developed and directly support these important initiatives.
Priority consideration will be given to proposals that promote systemic change through strong, outcome-focused initiatives (including, but not limited to, community collaborations, environmental and programmatic interventions, and policy advocacy) that target priority neighborhoods most burdened by a limited access to healthy food.
