This February, Wear Red, Speak Red, Go Red!

Wear Red Feb 7th ImageHundreds of businesses, community groups, hospitals, towns and schools across Massachusetts will be wearing red on February 7th to help raise awareness and funds to fight – the number one killer of women – cardiovascular disease. The campaign is part of the American Heart Association’s Annual Wear Red Day in which participants wear red, donate $5.00 to join the Go Red For Women® movement and receive a red dress pin, all to help raise awareness of heart disease.

Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red has become linked with the ability all women have, to choose heart health and live longer, stronger lives. For more than 10 years, Go Red For Women has been educating and connecting hundreds of thousands of women with knowledge and tools to help women make lifesaving choices. More than 627,000 women’s lives have been saved and 330 fewer women are dying per day. But the fight is far from over.

“Wear Red. Raise Your Voice. Go Red on National Wear Red Day.. With your help, we can end the No.1 killer of our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends,” said Carla Orta, one of the 2014 local Go Red Spokeswoman.

On Friday, February 7, 2014 represent women everywhere by wearing red on National Wear Red Day. Join thousands of other mothers, sisters and friends, as well as television personalities and news anchors by taking action in the fight against heart disease. Women can “Go Red” by wearing a red dress, red t-shirt, or even red shoes to help us fight this No. 1 killer. Men can “Go Red” by wearing a red tie or red shirt.
