Washington, DC- The Greater Washington Region American Heart Association teamed up with DC Primary Care Coalition, a non-profit health equity and advocacy organization, to conduct an inaugural training on the latest evidence of effective clinical care pathways for blood pressure control on March 6th. The training also went over how to successfully implement the M.A.P. Framework, an evidence-based approach to prevention and control of hypertension.
“Our collaboration with DC Primary Care Coalition is critically important. It’s a fact that 20% of adults in DC who visit Federally Qualified Health Centers suffer from hypertension Together, we are educating and empowering community members to learn about the importance of blood pressure control,” said Jessica Moise, Greater Washington Region American Heart Association Senior Community Impact Director.
American Heart Association Greater Washington Region board member Richard T. Benson, MD, PHD, Associate Medical Director of Stroke at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center with the NIH Stroke Program and American Heart Association South Carolina Board member Brent M. Egan, MD, Vice-President, Research in the Care Coordination Institute, Professor of Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine delivered the training for approximately 30 clinical staff representing nine health centers.
