Hinckley Allen attorney to chair American Heart Association’s Boston Lawyers Have Heart 5K

The American Heart Association announced today that Alexandra Gordon Briggs, a partner at Hinckley Allen, has been named chairperson of the 2023 Lawyers Have Heart 5K, which will take place on June 1 in the Boston Seaport.

Briggs brings nearly a decade of experience as a lawyer in Boston, as well as a passion for the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association, to this leadership role.

As Lawyers Have Heart chair, Briggs is heading an Executive Leadership Team of top attorneys working to recruit companies and organizations to take part in this year’s campaign. Their efforts will culminate on race day, where several thousand participants will run to raise awareness and funds to further the work of the American Heart Association.

“We are thrilled that Alexandra is leading this year’s Lawyers Have Heart campaign,” said Karen A. Whitefield, executive director of the American Heart Association in Boston. “Her experience and dedication to the health of Boston make her an invaluable addition to our team. We look forward to working closely with her to make this year’s race the most successful yet.”

Briggs is a partner in Hinckley Allen’s construction and public contracts groups. She concentrates her practice in the areas of construction, complex commercial litigation and insurance. She has worked at Hinckley Allen since 2018, becoming partner this year.

Prior to working at Hinckley Allen, Briggs was an associate at Morrison Mahoney, LLP. She is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School.

“I am honored to chair this wonderful event, which funds critical community work, lifesaving scientific research, prevention education, and more,” said Briggs. “I am passionate about fighting heart disease and stroke, and with the support of our incredible team of volunteers and sponsors, I am confident we will create an amazing event that will help improve the health of Boston.”

Joining Briggs on the Executive Leadership Team are Brian Christie, managing director, FTI Consulting; Helene Horn Figman, principal, Law Offices of Helene Horn Figman, P.C.; Taylor J. Hart, partner, Ropes & Gray LLP; William Lovett, partner, Lovett O’Brien; Clifford V. Pascarella, II, associate, Gordon, Rees, Scully & Mansukhani, LLP; Timothy Rennie, associate, Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP; Robert W. Sparkes, III, partner, K&L Gates LLP; Adam Valachovic, director, L2 Services; and Greg Naviloff, partner, RSM US LLP.

The Lawyers Have Heart 5K has been held annually in Boston since 2008. It brings runners and walkers together from across the region to raise awareness of cardiovascular health, particularly among members of the legal community.

This year’s race will take place on Thursday, June 1, at Flynn Cruiseport Boston. To sign up, visit LHHBoston.org. For additional information or to get your company involved, contact event director Nancy Gottesman at nancy.gottesman@heart.org.
