Alexsa Marino joins the American Heart Association’s initiative to improve women’s heart health
Providence, Rhode Island, October 23rd, 2024 – The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, is proud to announce Alexsa Marino, Senior Litigation Counselor at FM, as a Co-chair for the 2025 Southern New England Go Red for Women campaign.
“I am honored to be a Co-Chair for the 2025 Go Red for Women campaign,” shared Alexsa. “Too often women go undiagnosed or untreated for health issues without any good reason. The message I hope to share with as many women as possible is to listen to your body.”
Go Red for Women is a worldwide initiative of the American Heart Association designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally, and globally. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Nearly 45% of women over age 20 are living with some form of cardiovascular disease. Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death in women. According to the American Heart Association, less than half of women are aware that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat.
At the Go Red for Women Luncheon, the organization will celebrate the American Heart Association’s centennial year, which recognizes the 100 years of funded research that has led to significant medical advancements in cardiovascular research.
“We are thrilled to have Alexsa’s experience, conviction and passion to drive Go Red for Women in Southern New England. Together, we know that we will have a positive impact on the lives of women in our community and the families that depend on them,” said Michelle Clark, the Association’s Executive Director.
Alexsa is an experienced civil litigator who, in private practice, focused her trial practice on employment and labor law and business litigation. Alexsa currently serves as in-house counsel for FM, a global commercial property insurer with over 5,500 employees. Prior to Alexsa’s current practice, she was a Judicial Law Clerk in Rhode Island, after which she practiced at Locke Lord LLP and then Littler Mendelson P.C. Alexsa graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law and Bryant University. She is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Go Red for Women and its local community impact will be celebrated at the Southern New England Go Red for Women Luncheon on April 3, 2025. Alexsa will be joining, Kathryn Rattigan, Partner at Robinson+Cole, as a co-chair leading this year’s initiative. Funds raised through the Go Red for Women Luncheon benefit heart disease and stroke research and community impact programs focused on awareness and prevention. The event is sponsored locally by CVS Health, Robinson + Cole, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Lifespan Health System, KPMG, Beacon Mutual, iHeart Radio and NBC 10 WJAR.

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 19 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
