

The longtime event volunteers join local leaders in the legal community to power the annual 10K, 5K and fun walk
Tim Brightbill, partner at Wiley and Laura Smith, partner at HKA have been named as chairs the 35th annual Lawyers Have Heart, an annual 10K, 5K and fun walk that brings together thousands of runners and walkers to advance health and hope across the region.
Brightbill and Smith are longtime executive leaders and participants in Lawyers Have Heart. The event, now in its 35th year, brings together the legal community and others to take action and raise awareness and funds that drive the American Heart Association’s (AHA) advances in science, policy and care.

Lawyers Have Heart is not just for lawyers, there is something for everyone! The 2025 event will occur on May 17 at West Potomac Park, with the festival opening at 6:30 a.m. It includes 10K and 5K courses for runners, as well as a family-friendly walking course. The route will cover scenic views of the National Mall, concluding with post-race festivities, music, a kids’ zone, a pet play area and more.
