Geoff Bruno, Superintendent of Falmouth Schools, joined the local AHA Maine Board as well as the 8-state regional Board.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The American Heart Association (AHA) is the nation’s oldest, largest voluntary organization devoted to reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke risks. The AHA in Maine recently appointed several new members to its Board of Directors. The AHA also announced that three Maine residents currently serve on the Founders Affiliate Board which helps to drive achievement of the AHA’s public health, advocacy and fundraising goals across the six New England states, New York and New Jersey.

Newly appointed AHA Maine Board members are: Geoff Bruno, Superintendent, Falmouth Schools; Andrew Cook, VP, People’s United Bank; Dr. Dervilla McCann, Chief of Population Health, Central Maine Medical Center; and Dr. Brandei Wingard, Medical Director, Southern Maine Health Care Cardiology. Dr. John O’Meara, cardiologist with Portland Cardiology, was recently appointed the new AHA Maine Board President and Richard Veilleux, Program Manager at MaineHealth, is the new AHA Maine Board Chair.

 “Maine is fortunate and privileged to have a Board of Directors that not only includes talented and passionate medical professionals and business leaders, but also heart disease and stroke survivors,” said Towle Tompkins, the AHA Maine’s Executive Director.

Continuing AHA Maine Board members include: Erin Austin, Regional Network Deployment and Operations Lead at Google Fiber and Maine Board Leadership Development Chair; Mindy Beyer, a quality nurse specialist at Maine Medical Partners’ Maine Neurosurgery and Spine, and a congenital heart disease survivor; Catherine Desrochers, Account Executive with Norton Financial Services; Nicole Hardy, General Manager of Pottery Barn, and AHA National Go Red For Women Spokeswoman; Kate Kearns, Board Secretary; Misti Munster, Attorney at Verrill Dana; Sarah Porter, Quality Data Coordinator with Neurosurgery and Spine, Maine Medical Partners, and an AHA National Go Red For Women Spokeswoman; Eric Strout, Hannaford’s Fresh Operations Specialist and Levant Fire Chief; and Linda Whitten, Manager of Human Resources at AAA Northern New England.

Three Maine residents also serve on the AHA’s 8-state Founders Affiliate Board which oversees the AHA’s lifesaving mission in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. Geoff Bruno, Superintendent of Falmouth Schools, recently joined this regional Board in addition to joining the local Maine Board. Liz McGlinn, CPA, Accounting Manager with L.L. Bean continues to serve as Treasurer of the Founders Affiliate Board and is past Chair of the AHA Maine Board. Last year, Dave Abel, President and General Manager of WMTW-TV joined this Board.
